How Kalyani Group Found Real AI Talent Through a Nationwide Hackathon

Overview

Kalyani Group wanted to discover skilled AI talent—not through resumes, but by seeing students in action. In collaboration with WeCP, they launched a nationwide hackathon targeting final-year engineering students. The result? Over 7,900 registrations, 400 final submissions, and 8 standout interns selected.

The Challenge

Kalyani needed a way to:

  • Connect with skilled fresher talent for AI roles
  • Evaluate real-world problem-solving at scale
  • Look beyond resumes and credentials

Traditional methods couldn’t offer the scale or skill visibility they were aiming for.

The Approach

Kalyani partnered with WeCP to launch a hackathon designed to assess real-world AI skills. Hosted on WeCP’s platform, the challenge reached students across 200+ institutions.

WeCP enabled:

  • Simple registration and smooth test delivery
  • Auto-evaluation for coding and AI tasks
  • Scalable screening of thousands of participants
  • Real-time leaderboards, integrity checks, and customizable problems

The Outcome

  • 7,900+ registrations
  • 400 full submissions
  • 200 institutions represented
  • 8 AI interns selected

What’s Next

Encouraged by the success, Kalyani Group plans to use this model for other engineering roles to scale campus hiring and improve conversion.
